The petitioner seeks bail in Crime No.511 of 2023, registered by the respondent police for the offences punishable under Sections 294(b), 323, 397, 385, 427, 336, 506(2) of IPC. The petitioner had been remanded to custody on 21.10.2023.

2.It is the case of the prosecution that the petitioner herein and another accused went over to the defacto complainant's shop and asked for mamool and when that was refused, showed a knife and robbed a sum of Rs.4,200/-. They also assaulted the defacto complainant. The facts might necessitate grant of bail to the petitioner herein. As a matter of fact, co-accused had been granted bail, but one factor which had been pointed out by the learned Government Advocate (Crl. Side) for the respondent is the previous cases against the petitioner herein and a report has been filed giving a string of 26 cases which have been registered in various Police Stations in Chengalpet District and also in Chennai District. 3.There are three cases registered under Section 302 of IPC and

four cases had been registered under Section 307 of IPC 4.The learned counsel for the petitioner states that a substantial number of those cases are still pending and final report had not yet been filed.

5.The very fact that the petitioner had been accused of demanding of mamool would show that the defacto complainants would have fear to come forward to give proper statements as against the petitioner and only when they do so, investigation would be completed. 6.In view of that particular fact, grant of bail to the petitioner would cause more harm I am not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner.
