ORDER
Mr.Yogesh Kannadasan, learned Special Government Pleader, accepts notice on behalf of the Respondents. With the consent of the learned 1/6
counsels on either side, the writ petition is taken up for final disposal.
2. This Writ Petition has been filed to direct the first respondent to consider the petitioner's request dated 14.08.2025 for transfer to the Central Prison, Vellore or Central Prison, Puzhal in view of the 80% disability suffered by his wife on account of Motor Neuron Disease.
3. The case of the petitioner is that he was initially appointed as Grade -II Warden on 07.06.2006 in the Prison Department of Tamil Nadu and subsequently, he was promoted as Grade - I Warden on 08.02.2017. He is currently serving at Central Prison, Trichy. Due to the ailment of his wife, he seeks transfer to the Prison nearby his residence, for which, he had given a representation dated 14.08.2025 to the first respondent. But his request has not yet been considered by the first respondent. Hence, this petition has been filed for the above said relief.

The learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner was working in Sub Jail, Wallajah and he has been transferred to Central Prison, Trichy and the petitioner has also complied with the order of transfer. The wife of the petitioner is bedridden with 80% disability and therefore, the petitioner requests the respondent for transfer to the Prison nearby his 2/6
residence.

The learned Special Government Pleader for the respondents submits that the general transfer by which 570 Grade II Warden were sought to be transferred throughout the State was completed on 27.05.2025. However, the petitioner's application seeking transfer will be considered in accordance with law.

In view of the above submission, without going into the merits of the claim of the petitioner, a direction is issued to the respondents to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 14.08.2025 and pass orders on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. If the claim of the petitioner is found to be true, his representation is also to be sympathetically considered.
7. With the above direction, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
