The Criminal Original Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the Mahila Court, Cuddalore, to conclude the speedy trial in S.C.No.22 of 2024 within the stipulated time.

The contention of the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner is that based on the complaint lodged by the de facto complainant, a case in Crime No.117 of 2020 was registered by the respondent against the petitioners on 25.02.2020. After completion of investigation, a charge sheet was filed and taken cognizance only in the year 2024 in S.C.No.22 of 2024 on the file of the Mahila Court, Cuddalore. However, despite the lapse of time, there has been no progress in the trial. Hence, the present petition has been filed seeking a direction to expedite the trial.

3. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side) appearing for the respondent.

4. Considering the facts and circumstances of the case particularly that the case pertains to the year 2020 and despite the filing of the charge sheet in the year 2024, the trial is still pending, this Court directs the learned Judge, Mahila Court, Cuddalore, to complete the trial in S.C.No.22 of 2024 as expeditiously as possible.
