Respondent Prayer: Writ petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondent University to conclude and drop the Disciplinary Proceedings initiated against the petitioner, by exonerating the petitioner from the charges, by revoking the order of suspension and reinstating the petitioner into service and by regularising the period of suspension as duty with pay with all monetary and other consequential benefits, within a time frame that may be fixed by this Court.

Ms.H.Mary Sowmi Rexi for Mr.P.Godson Swaminath, Standing Counsel for University COMMON ORDER By consent of both the parties, these writ petitions have been taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself. 2.Ms.H.Mary Sowmi Rexi, representing for Mr.P.Godson Swaminath, learned Sanding Counsel accepts notice for the respondent. 3.In these writ petitions, the petitioners are seeking direction to the respondents to complete the disciplinary proceedings initiated against them, within a time frame to be fixed by this Court. 4.Heard Mr.R.Krishnasamy, learned counsel for the petitioners and Ms.H.Mary Sowmi Rexi, representing for Mr.P.Godson Swaminath, learned Standing Counsel for University.

5.Learned Standing Counsel for University would, on instructions, submit that the enquiry report has already been submitted to the disciplinary authority. According to her, since the enquiry officer has held that the charges framed against the respective petitioners have been proved, the disciplinary authority has issued show cause notice to the respective petitioners, calling upon them to submit their explanation within a period of fifteen days from the date of receipt of the said show cause notice.

6.Learned counsel for the petitioners would, on instructions, submit that within a period of two weeks from today, the respective petitioners shall submit a reply to the disciplinary authority. Learned counsel for the petitioners seeks for a direction from this Court to the respondent to conclude the disciplinary proceedings, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a reply from the respective petitioner.

7.Learned Standing Counsel for the respondent has not raised any serious objection if such a direction is issued. 3/4

vga 8.For the foregoing reasons, these writ petitions are disposed of by directing the respective petitioners to submit a reply to the show cause notice, sent by the disciplinary authority, within a period of two weeks from today. On receipt of the said reply, the respondent is directed to pass final orders in the disciplinary proceedings initiated against the respective petitioners, within a period of six weeks thereafter. 9.With the aforesaid directions, these writ petitions are disposed of. No costs.
