The Criminal Original Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the learned Metropolitan Magistrate for exclusive trial of CCB Cases, 1/4

Egmore, Chennai, to conclude the trial in C.C.No.501 of 2025 (Old No. CC.No.4731 of 2017) within the stipulated time.

2. The contention of the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner is that based on the complaint lodged by the de facto complainant, a case in Crime No.678 of 2009 was registered by the respondent against the petitioner and others. After completion of investigation, a charge sheet was filed and taken cognizance in the year 2017 in C.C.No.4731 of 2017 on the file of the Metropolitan Magistrate for exclusive trial of CCB Cases, Egmore, Chennai and thereafter, split up against the petitioner and numbered as C.C.No.501 of 2025. Despite the lapse of time, there has been no progress in the trial. Hence, the present petition has been filed seeking a direction to expedite the trial.

3. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side) appearing for the respondent.

4. Considering the facts and circumstances of the case, particularly the fact that the case pertains to the year 2009 and that despite the filing of 2/4

the charge sheet in the year 2017 and the completion of the trial against the other accused, the trial in respect of the petitioner is still pending, this Court directs the learned Metropolitan Magistrate for exclusive trial of CCB Cases, Egmore, Chennai, to complete the trial in C.C.No.501 of 2025 as expeditiously as possible.
