ORDER

This writ petition has been filed seeking issuance of a writ of mandamus directing the respondents to provide police protection to the petitioner with an armed gunman, in view of the grave threats to the petitioner's life, by considering the petitioner's representation dated 13.08.2025.

2. The petitioner, said to be a social worker, has flagged certain violations by a particular community. Besides that, he has also taken various 2/5

steps to remove the encroachment. As a result of these actions, he has been regularly followed by them and there is a life threat to him. Hence, he seeks police protection. In this regard, he had already lodged a complaint dated 07.07.2025 followed by another complaint on 13.08.2025., which has not been considered till date. Hence,the present petition.

The learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondents, on instructions, would submit that the police have already been conducting regular checks on the petitioner's safety, every day, both in the morning and evening and are also monitoring whether any real threat to the life of the petitioner.

4. In such view of the matter, the respondents are directed to make necessary surveillance if any real threat exists to the petitioner's life. In case there is a necessity for protection, the police shall increase the surveillance and 3/5

provide necessary protection. This direction is always subject to review by the Secure Review Committee and periodical review shall be undertaken.
