PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, seeking to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to give adequate police protections for the spiritual procession which is to be held on 25.12.2022 by the petitioner's "Marali Kaitheenda Salai Andavargal Meimatham" Trust by considering the petitioner's representation dated 22.11.2022 which is pending before the respondents. 1/4

The Writ Petition has been filed, seeking to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to give adequate police protections for the spiritual procession which is to be held on 25.12.2022 by petitioner's "Marali Kaitheenda Salai Andavargal Meimatham" Trust by considering the petitioner's representation dated 22.11.2022 which is pending before the respondents.
2. The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner has given his representation for adequate police protection before the respondents as early as on 22.11.2022, but so far it has not been considered yet and no order has been passed.
3. The learned Government Advocate (Crl. Side) appearing for the respondents submitted that they are not having any such representation as 2/4
stated by the petitioner and if the petitioner appeared in person and submit a fresh representation, it would have been convenient for them. He further submitted that on 25.12.2022 when it happens to be Christmas, the petitioner has planned their procession and that should not cause any problem.
4. On perusal of records, it is seen that even in this petition the petitioner has not sought for any permission to conduct procession on 25.12.2022; he only sought for adequate Police protection. Hence, the petitioner is permitted to submit a fresh representation in person before the authority concerned. On such representation being filed, the respondent Police shall consider the same and do the needful in accordance with law by following the slandered guidelines issued in Police Standing Order 566(2).
5. With the above direction, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
