The petitioner seeks anticipatory bail in Crime No.486 of 2023, registered by the respondent police for the offences punishable under Sections 279, 273 and 328 of IPC and Section 7, 20(1) of Cigarette and Other Tobacco Products Act, 2003 and Section 58 and 59 of Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.

2. It is stated that the petitioner was found in possession of 347 kgs of banned tobacco products. The respondent had intercepted car bearing registration No.TN 66 AE 9745. The petitioner was the driver. The respondent have not yet completed their investigation with respect to the owner of the products after contraband. Taking huge quantity and the fact that the owner is still absconding.

3. Taking all those factors into consideration, I am not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner. Accordingly, this Criminal Original Petition stands dismissed.
