Respondent Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India seeking for the issuance of a WRIT OF MANDAMUS directing the respondent to include the petitioner's name in the list of eligible candidates for enrollment as an Advocate on the basis of the petitioner's representation dated 19.10.2023.

ORDER

[Order of the court was made by R.MAHADEVAN, J.] Seeking a direction to the respondent to consider the representation dated 19.10.2023 and to enrol him as an Advocate within the time frame fixed by this Court, the petitioner has preferred the present petition. 2.

It is the case of the petitioner that she studied law degree in Government Law College, Chengalpattu, which is affiliated to the Tamil Nadu Dr.Ambedkar Law University at Chennai and completed the same in the year 2023. Subsequently, for getting enrolled as an Advocate, the petitioner submitted an application to the respondent on 22.07.2023, but, till date her name was not included in the enrolment list due to the pendency of a criminal case in Crime No.261 of 2022 registered on 29.04.2022 by the Inspector of Police, Chengalpattu Taluk Police Station. Thereafter, the petitioner sent a representation dated 19.10.2023 to the respondent to enrol her as an Advocate and since the same has not been considered, the petitioner is before this court with the present writ petition. 2/6

The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner has not committed any offence and she has been falsely implicated in the criminal case. However, due to pendency of the same, her application seeking enrolment as an Advocate, has not been processed till date. Therefore, the learned counsel prayed for a direction to the respondent to dispose of the application of the petitioner by considering her representation dated 19.10.2023.

On the other hand, the learned counsel appearing for the respondent fairly submitted that the respondent would consider the representation of the petitioner and pass orders, on merits, within a time frame to be stipulated by this court.

Considering the limited scope of the prayer made herein, without expressing any opinion on the claim of the petitioner, there shall be a direction to the respondent to pass appropriate orders on the petitioner's representation dated 19.10.2023, on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 3/6

With the above direction, this writ petition stands disposed of. No costs.
