The petitioner seeks anticipatory bail in Crime No.797 of 2023 registered by the respondent Police for the offences punishable under Sections 4(1)(a), 4(1) (b), 4(1) (g), 4(1) (h), 4(1-A) of T.N.P. Act r/w Section 7 of TN R.S. Rules 2000 and Sections 120 B, 420, 467, 468 and 471 of IPC.

2. It is stated that on receiving information about illegal transport of brandy bottles, the respondent had intercepted Ashok leyland lorry bearing registration No.TN 34 AD 9119 and found 2016 brandy bottles each contains 180 ML. The driver and the other persons in the lorry had been arrested.

3. The learned counsel for the petitioner stated that the petitioner is innocent of the offences. But, however, Counter affidavit had been filed that the petitioner is transporting illicit brandy bottles. 1/3

4. Taking all those factors into consideration, the large quantity of brandy bottles had been recovered, though at this stage, the learned counsel for the petitioner sought permission to withdraw the application. I am not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner. Accordingly, this Criminal Original Petition stands dismissed.
