Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying for the issuance of a Writ of Certiorarified Mandamus, calling for the records in Na.Ka.No.0.end.R-3/G.P./3538/2017 dated 10.10.2017 passed by the first respondent and quash the same and directing the respondents to recruit the petitioner for Grade II Police Constable in B.C. Category for giving correct marks in the P.E.T. in Tamil Nadu Uniform Police Services. For Petitioner : Mr.K.R.Krishnan For Respondents : Mr.Sowmidattan, Standing Counsel.
O R D E R
The order of rejection rejecting the case of the writ petitioner for selection to the post of Grade II Police Constable, is under challenge in the present writ petition.
2. The petitioner states that he had participated in the process of selection for appointment to the post of Grade II Police Constable pursuant to 2/6
the Recruitment Notification issued by the first respondent. The petitioner was successful in the written examination and allowed to participate in the physical verification test and endurance test.
3. The grievance of the writ petitioner is that the final mark awarded to PET was only 9 marks instead of 12 marks. The petitioner states that under the physical verification test, he had obtained star in all the physical verification tests. The marks awarded to the petitioner are for Long Jump 2 star, for 100 meters 2 star and for rope 1 star and each star is given 21/2 marks and therefore, the petitioner had obtained 12 marks. But the final mark of 9 alone was granted to the petitioner and hence, he scored 62 marks in the selection process.
4. The respondents have filed counter stating that the petitioner participated in the physical eligibility test and the results were published on 31.08.2017. The petitioner scored 53 marks in the written test, 9 marks in the physical efficiency test and no special marks were granted to the petitioner. Thus the petitioner secured 62 marks. 5. Therefore, the petitioner was not within the zone of consideration and thus he was not selected.
6. The process of selection was concluded in the year 2017. The petitioner was not within the zone of consideration. The counter-affidavit filed by the second respondent reveals that the petitioner scored 62 marks and the cut off mark for selection was 64 marks.
7. This being the factum, the petitioner is not eligible for selection and appointment.
8. Thus, this Court do not find any infirmity in respect of the order impugned in the present writ petition.

9. Accordingly, the writ petition stands dismissed. However, there shall be no order as to costs. Consequently, the connected miscellaneous petition is also dismissed.
