Prayer: Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India seeking a writ of mandamus, directing the respondents 1 and 2 herein to initiate steps as per law to remove the encroachments committed by 6th respondent and his men in S.Nos.7, 25 and 31 in Ayyanperiyur, Thaikal Village, Veppanthattai Taluk, Perambalur District, which is classified as 'Peraiyur Vaikal' [Water Couse] (Vaikal Poramboke) forthwith.

ORDER

(Made by the Hon'ble Chief Justice) Heard Ms.T.Dharani, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr.P.Muthukumar, learned State Government Pleader for respondents 1 to 5.

2. Learned State Government Pleader, on instructions, submits that S.Nos.7, 25 and 31 in Ayyanperiyur, Thaikal Village, Veppanthattai Taluk, Perambalur District are vaikkal lands and Forms I, II and III are already issued. It is further submitted that the encroachments would be removed, by adhering to the principles of law, within a period of six months.

3. In view of the said submission, no orders are required to be passed in the present petition. The writ petition, accordingly, stands disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs. (S.V.G., CJ.) (D.B.C., J.) 12.01.2024 Index :
