The petitioner, who was arrested and remanded to judicial custody on 10.08.2025 for the alleged offence under Sections 314, 318(4), 316(4) of 1/4
BNS Act in Crime No.189 of 2025 on the file of the respondent police, seek bail.
2. The case of the prosecution is that the petitioner herein working as a Postal Assistant. He has misused the system SAP User ID and password of Senior Superintendent of Post Offices and Deputy Superintendent of Post Offices, Chennai City South Division without the knowledge of the Officers and misappropriated a sum of Rs.28,45,000/- on various occasions from 04.01.2024 to 10.06.2025 and had utilised the Government money for his personal use.
3. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner is ready to abide by any stringent condition that may be imposed by this Court. Hence, he prayed for grant of bail to the petitioner.
4. The learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side) appearing for the respondent police reiterated the prosecution case and alleged that the crime is come to light during audit. This petitioner has invested the money in Crypto Currency. He has admitted his guilt and gave six cheques, however, 2/4
those cheques were bounced. He further alleged that the investigation is at nascent stage. Hence, he opposed to grant bail to the petitioner.
5. Considering the gravity of the offence, this Court is not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner. Hence, this Criminal Original Petition is dismissed.
