PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to fill up the post of Head of Department in various departments in Government Polytechnic Colleges/Special Diploma Institutions from the 1/5

feeder post of Lecturer as per Service Rules, by preparing year wise panel as per Service Rules and Government orders and consequently promote the petitioners to the post of Head of Department in the respective departments based on their seniority and eligibility, by considering the representation submitted by the petitioners dated 07.04.2017, 10.04.207 and 12.04.2017 with all consequential and other attendant benefits, within a time frame as fixed by this Court. Aggrieved against the inaction on the part of the respondents in not promoting the petitioners herein to the posts of Head of the Department (HoD) in the respective departments, based on their seniority and eligibility, the present Writ Petition has been filed.

2. Heard Mr.G.Sankaran, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mr.K.J.A.Ravikumar, learned Government Advocate appearing on behalf of the respondents.

3. Today when the matter was taken up, the learned Government Advocate produced the copy of the G.O. (Ms) No.59, Higher Education

(12) Department, dated 26.02.2021, wherein the petitioner Mr.S.Murugesan was promoted as HoD and posted at Government Polytechnic College, Trichy; G.O. (Ms) No.63, Higher Education (12) Department, dated 26.02.2021, wherein Mr.N.Jeevanandhan was promoted as HoD and posted at Government Polytechnic College, Tiruvarur; and G.O. (Ms) No.67, Higher Education (12) Department, dated 26.02.2021, wherein Mr.S.Kumaresan was promoted as HoD and posted at Bharathiar Centenary Memorial Government Polytechnic College for Women, Ettayapuram. Since the grievances of the petitioners have already been met out, no effective orders can be passed in this Writ Petition.

4. Recording the submissions made by the learned Government Advocate, the Writ Petition stands closed. Consequently, the connected Miscellaneous Petition is closed. There shall be no order as to costs.
