ORDER

This Suo Motu Case is dealt with in an extraordinary manner by the Dedicated Bench, pursuant to Suo Motu W.P.(Crl.) No.618 of 2025.

2. The allegation in this case is that on 12.08.2019, the A1 drove the vehicle and caused injuries and A2 is the owner of the vehicle. The case was registered in Crime No.157 of 2019 for the alleged offences under Sections 279, 337 of Indian Penal Code (IPC), 1860 and Sections 134(a), 134(b) and Page No.1 of 3

187, 181(3), 146, 196 of Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.

2. When the matter was called, the accused were present and pleaded guilty. Considering the overall nature of the accident, the fact that the accused have been facing the case for a long time and that they have now pleaded guilty, this Court is of the view that a penalty of fine of Rs.3,000/- for A1 and Rs.2,000/- for A2 shall be imposed. The fine amount shall be paid by the accused on the next date of hearing before the Trial Court.

3. Accordingly, the CC.No.1426/2021 on the file of the III Metropolitan Magistrate Court, George Town Taluk, Chennai shall stands quashed and this Suo Motu Transfer Case stands allowed.

The Trial Court shall take note of the order and accordingly classify the case pending before them as allowed / dismissed / disposed of, etc, and while doing so, consider any applications such as disposal of properties, etc., and pass appropriate orders, as may be necessary. Further, the Court below is directed to dispatch the copy of this order to all concerned.
