This writ petition is filed seeking a direction to the first respondent to provide a fresh electricity service connection to the petitioner's property.

2. The petitioner is the owner of the property situated in S.No.31, Melur Village, Pudur Nadu, Javathi Hills Pudur Nadu. The petitioner was provided with electricity service connection by the first respondent. On 03.03.2024, there was a theft of electricity meter installed in the petitioner's house, one Attukkaran Thukkan and others illegally committed trespass into the house of the petitioner and committed theft of Electricity Board Meter and 50 ft long electric cable. Therefore, the petitioner preferred a complaint before the second respondent and CSR receipt was issued in CSR.No.148 of 2024.

3. It is the case of the petitioner that she submitted a representation before the first respondent seeking installation of fresh meter and necessary electric cable to the petitioner's house. However, the same has not been considered, hence, the petitioner has come before this Court.

4. Mr.S.Madhusudanan, learned Standing Counsel (TNEB) 2/6

appearing for the first respondent would submit that the petitioner is required to pay a sum of Rs.2,725/- towards installation of new meter and electric cable and if the petitioner makes an payment of the said amount, the request of the petitioner will be considered. The learned counsel for the petitioner also expressed willingness to pay the said amount.

In view of the statement made by the learned counsel appearing for the first respondent, the petitioner is directed to pay a sum of Rs.2,725/- to the first respondent within a period of one week from the date of receipt of copy of this order along with request for installation of new meter and necessary electric cables. The first respondent shall consider the same and pass necessary orders for installation of new meter and electric cables in the petitioner's premises within a further period of two weeks from the date of payment by the petitioner.

6. The learned counsel appearing for the first respondent submits that earlier when the officials of the first respondent department went to the petitioner's premises for installation of electric meter there was resistance from 3rd parties. Therefore, the second respondent may be 3/6

directed to give necessary police protection.

7. In case, the petitioner apprehends any resistance from the 3rd parties, it is for the petitioner to make a necessary complaint before the second respondent seeking police protection.
