ORDER

This petition has been filed by the petitioner/accused to issue suitable direction or order to expedite the trial in C.C.No.7764 of 2018 on the file of VI Metropolitan Magistrate, Egmore, Chennai.

2. The learned counsel for the petitioner has submitted that the petitioner is facing trial for the alleged offence under Sections 6(2)(3) of TNSC (RDCS) Order-1982 r/w 7(i)a(ii) of EC Act 1955. He further submitted that though charge sheet was filed in the year 2018 and the case also was taken on file in the year 2018 itself, but so far, only six witnesses were examined. He further submitted that the petitioner is aged about 61 years. He is suffering from Diabetics and Blood Pressure and it is very difficult for him to appear before the Court regularly and further he was suspended from service and therefore he prayed to direct the trial court to dispose of the case at early.

Per contra, the learned Additional Public Prosecutor has submitted that totally 15 witness were cited in the charge sheet, out of 15 witnesses, already six witnesses, were examined and only nine witnesses not yet to examine and therefore he prayed to grant six months time for disposing of the case.

4. Considering the aforesaid submission, the trial court is directed to dispose of the aforesaid case as early as possible preferably within six months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

5. With the aforesaid direction, this petition is disposed of.
