The petitioners herein are accused in C.C.No.1392 of 2025 pending on the file of IX Judicial Magistrate, Saidapet, Chennai arising out of Crime No. 104 of 2025. The petitioners have approached this Court seeking the relief of bail. 1/4
2. The learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) appearing for the respondent police, opposed the grant of bail to the petitioners and submitted that the petitioners hail from Maharashtra and is allegedly involved in a series of chain snatching cases. He further submitted that if released on bail, there is every possibility of absconding and repeating the similar offence. He also submitted that the investigation has been completed and the final report has been filed.
3. Considering the fact that the petitioners are a native of Maharashtra and have multiple criminal cases pending against them for similar offences, this Court is of the view that granting bail at this stage would not be conducive for completion of the trial. Hence, this Court is not inclined to grant bail to the petitioners. Accordingly, this Criminal Original Petition stands dismissed.
4. The respondent police is hereby directed to marshal the witnesses and take effective steps to ensure that the trial is completed as expeditiously as possible.
