ORDER

When the matter came up for hearing, the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that the fourth respondent in the writ petition Mr.Ramasamy Gounder has since passed away.

2. Mr.A.Selvendran, the learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the respondents 1 to 3 would submit that it is only the Revenue Divisional Officer who is the appropriate authority to conduct the enquiry and he has already sent notice on 28.04.2023.

3. In view thereof, this writ petition is disposed of on the following direction:- (i) The Revenue Divisional Officer, Mettur shall conduct an enquiry on the claim made by the petitioner and during the course of the enquiry, the notice shall be issued to the legal heirs of the said Ramaswamy Gounder and also after giving opportunities to both sides, the issue shall be decided in the manner known to law. (ii) The said exercise shall be completed within a period of 2/4

twelve weeks from the date of receipt/production of the websiteuploaded copy of this order, without waiting for the certified copy of the order.

(iii) No costs.
