ORDER

This writ petition has been filed to direct the 1st respondent to pass orders based on the 2nd respondent letter No.25917/2008 dated 06.04.2009 pertaining to left out land of 2 ground and 2760 Sq.Ft. in survey No.382/1 Peravallur Village, Purasawakkam - Perambur Taluk now Kolathur Taluk, Chennai 82 converting the Government Poramboke land as Ryotwari Manai.

2. The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the subject land, to the extent of 52 cents, was allotted to the petitioner as early as on 11.06.1990. In this regard, GO(Ms)No.985 dated 11.06.1990 was passed for conversion of the Government Poromboke lands into Ryotwari Manai. Pursuant to the said order, the respondents had converted the Poromboke land to an extent of 7 grounds and 2275 sq.ft., into Ryotwari Manai. For the remaining 2 grounds and 2760 sq.ft., no conversion was made and thus, no patta was issued till date. Hence, this petition.

3. In reply, the learned counsel for the respondents would submit that the subject issue is pending before the District Collector and the same will be disposed of within a period of 8 weeks.

4. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the respondents and also perused the entire materials available on record.

5. In the case on hand, there is no dispute on the aspect that GO(Ms)No.985 dated 11.06.1990 was issued for allotment of subject land, viz., 52 cents of Poromboke land, to the petitioner-Association. Thereafter, 1st respondent is supposed to have notified the change of Revenue classification of the aforesaid land from Government Poromboke to Ryotwari Manai.

6. Now, it appears that as on date, the conversion was made only for the extent of 7 grounds and 2275 sq.ft., of land. For the remaining 2 grounds and 2760 sq.ft., no conversion was made and thus, no patta was issued till date. According to the respondents, the process of conversion of remaining land from Government Poromboke to Ryotwari Manai is pending before the 1st respondent.

7. In view of the above, this Court directs the 1st respondent to issue order for conversion of subject land (2 grounds and 2760 sq.ft.) from Government Poromboke to Ryotwari Manai. Thereafter, the 2nd respondent shall issue patta for the said land in favour of the petitioner-Association. The entire exercise shall be completed within a period of 12 weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
