Contempt Petition No.458 of 2020 Contempt Petition No.458 of 2020 S.VAIDYANATHAN, J., AND C.SARAVANAN, J., When the matter is taken up for hearing, Mr.V.B.R.Menon, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner, drew the attention of this court that only with regard to 15% of the mining activities alone, the Government has given an undertaking that the same would be effected from January, 2023. The matter is posted today for clarification with regard to giving effect to the order in its entirety. Hence the implementation of the drone technology with regard to curbing of illegal mining, etc. will have to be effected from January, 2023.

2. Mr.B.Vijay, learned Additional Government Pleader, appearing for the Government would submit that the Government have also issued a notification dated 28.10.2022 inviting application for empanelment for surveying the mines/quarries using drone technology and other aspects including DGPS survey. He would further submit that the entire directions of this Court would be given effect to before the end of January 2023, and not as contended by the petitioner.
