This Writ Petition has been filed seeking a direction respondents to release the lorry of the petitioner bearing registration No.TN-18-BY-0448 (Dost goods carrier) to the petitioner forthwith based on the representation of the petitioner dated 05.09.2023.
2. When the matter is taken up for hearing, learned Special Government Pleader appearing on behalf of the 1st respondent submitted that during the pendency of the Writ Petition, the 1st respondent has passed an order dated 03.04.2024 imposing a penalty on the petitioner in respect of illegal transportation of PDS rice in the lorry owned by the petitioner and he has also submitted a copy of the said order.
3. In the light of the aforesaid subsequent development i.e., namely the imposition of penalty for the alleged illegal transportation of goods, no further orders are required to be passed in this Writ Petition. However, the petitioner is at liberty to work out his remedy in the manner known to law.
4. This Writ Petition stands disposed of in the above terms. There shall be no order as to costs.
