including accountability and criminal liability in case of negligence; (3) respondents to pay interim and final compensation to the families of the deceased and injured persons as per judicial precedents on my representation dated 04.09.2025.

ORDER

(Order of the Court was made by the Hon'ble Chief Justice) This Public Interest Litigation has been filed seeking a direction in most generalised form that a direction should be issued to the authorities to register FIR under appropriate sections of BNS against the responsible contractors and government officials and also to direct the Government to issue comprehensive guidelines for road cutting and public safety measures including accountability and criminal liability in case of negligence and also to direct the respondents to pay interim and final compensation to the families of the deceased and

injured persons as per judicial precedents.

2. The laws are in place to deal with all the situations which have been encompassed in the petition and the relief sought in this writ petition. In a given case, if any illegality is done or offence committed, it is open for the petitioner to report it to the competent authority under the law, whether it be a case of commission of criminal offence or cutting of road or affecting public safety. As far as compensation is concerned, the compensation mechanism is also there which can be set in motion by those who are injured or affected because of any negligence.
