Today, when the matter was called, it is brought to the notice of the Court that the parties have arrived at a compromise and the second respondent has decided to withdraw the allegations in the FIR and has no objection for quashing of the same on the basis of the compromise.

2. Both the parties are present today and have signed the Joint Memorandum of Compromise. Mr. M.Shankar, Head Constable, Central Crime Branch, Chennai, who has appeared before this Court has identified the parties. In view of the settlement arrived at between the parties, no useful purpose would be served in keeping the proceedings on the file of the 1st respondent Police pending. Hence, the impugned F.I.R is quashed. The said Joint Memo of Compromise is taken on record and 2/5

shall form part of the order.

3. With the above observations, the Criminal Original Petition is allowed. Consequently, the connected miscellaneous petition is closed. No costs.
