This contempt petition is filed to punish the respondents for having willfully disobeyed the order passed by this Court on 28.04.2023, made in W.P.No.27042 of 2012.

2. Learned Additional Advocate General appearing for the respondents submitted a copy of G.O.(Ms)No.26 Home (Police 1A) Department dated 30.01.2024, by which Thiru.R.Antony Johnson Jeyapaul, Commandant, TSP II Battalion, Avadi, Chennai, the petitioner herein, has been promoted and upgraded to the post of Deputy Inspector General of Police, Small Arms (Non-Cadre, Tamilnadu Special Police).

3. Learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that similarly placed three Officers were granted seniority in this regard.

4. This Court is of the considered view that it is open to the petitioner to give a representation in regard to the seniority to the 1st respondent/Principal Secretary, Home (Pol-I) Department, Fort St. George, Chennai - 600 009, within a period of one week from the date of receipt of a copy of the order.

5. On receipt of the same, the 1st respondent/Principal Secretary, Home (Pol-I) Department, Fort St. George, Chennai - 600 009, is directed to consider the representation of the petitioner and pass orders in accordance with law on merits within a period of two weeks.

6. In view of the above submission made by the learned counsel for the petitioner as well as the learned Additional Advocate General, this contempt petition stands closed.
