The petitioner has challenged a communication from the Controller of Examinations (in short, R2) dated 18.11.2023. Therein, R2 has rejected the application of the petitioner for genuineness certificate for the reason that the name was incomplete and did not contain her initials. 2.

R2 has filed a detailed counter wherein they defend their rejection order. First of all, they state that the application of the petitioner was incomplete since the name is bereft of any initial either before or after it. The procedure for application of genuineness verification online clearly stipulates that the candidate must enter the details 'as per the degree certificate', failing which, the application will be declared ineligible. 3.

In the present case, the degree certificate of the petitioner very clearly mentions the name of the petitioner as 'Selvajothi.S'. This is an admitted position. In such an event, it would be incumbent upon the petitioner to have filled in the application form as per the degree certificate, as stipulated.

Secondly, the counter states that the application for genuineness certificate may be made multiple times and at paragraph 10, R2 undertakes to issue genuineness certificate upon her re-application and this was pointed out to the petitioner.

The only defence put forth is that in the event of reapplication, the petitioner, who appears in-person, states that she would be forced to remit a sum of Rs.1,600/-.

The Court does not appreciate the response of the petitioner and finds the cause of action espoused frivolous. The petitioner does not 2/4

dispute the fact the application was incomplete and that the initial, as required by the Rules, was not appended. In such an event, she ought to have made a re-application instead of filing this writ petition. Dismissed. No costs.
