Prayer: Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents 1 to 4 to take immediate and appropriate action against the 5th respondent for illegal extraction and commercial sale of Savudu soil from Government Lake in Survey No.406, Perambakkam Village, Thiruvallur Taluk, Thiruvallur District and direct the 4th respondent to cancel any permission or license granted to the 5th respondent for excavation of lake soil from the said Government Lake with imposing a penalty/fine on the 5th respondent for environmental degradation, misuse of ogvernment resources and black-market sales.

ORDER

(Order of the Court was made by the Hon'ble Chief Justice) Learned counsel for the petitioner, at the outset, would submit that a representation has been made on 01.09.2025 alleging excess extraction of soil by the 5th respondent.

2. We are of the view that this allegation, if not already enquired into, should be enquired into and that too expeditiously because the total period of lease itself is 50 days, which is going to expire on 25.09.2025.

With the direction to complete the enquiry on the complaint as expeditiously as possible and to pass appropriate orders after affording an opportunity of hearing to the 5th respondent, the petition is disposed of.
