seeking to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing respondent to immediately constitute a high level empowered committee on women safety to obtain necessary funds from the second respondent under Nirbhaya Fund and ensure 100% utilization of the Nirbhaya Fund received exclusively for woe an children safety within the financial year and submit the current report to this Court to ensure speedy justice for women and their safety. ORDER
(Order of the Court was made by the Hon'ble Acting Chief Justice.) This writ petition has been filed to direct respondent to immediately constitute a high level empowered committee on women safety to obtain necessary funds from the second respondent under Nirbhaya Fund and ensure 100% utilization of the Nirbhaya Fund received exclusively for woe an children safety within the financial year and submit the current report to this Court to ensure speedy justice for women and their safety.
2. The Joint Secretary to Government, Home, Prohibition and Excise
Department, Secretariat, Chennai /first respondent has filed a Status Report, furnishing the particulars with regard to the involvement of the stakeholders in utilization of funds under the Nirbhaya scheme. Further, to achieve the objectives of the Nirbhaya Fund, various schemes, such as strengthening of women help desk at police stations and Anti Human Trafficking Units; Cyber Crime Prevention against Women and Children (CCPWC) scheme; Reimbursement from central victim compensation fund; Establishment of dedicated DNA division etc., are also introduced and implemented by the Government.
3. He also assured in the above Status Report that, the Government is dedicated in using the Nirbhaya Fund to its fullest potential towards the welfare and safety of Women and Children and also ensured that the stakeholders involved in the projects under Nirbhaya Fund are taking every effort to expedite the schemes, as mentioned in the Status Report and to complete the same.
4. The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that, inview of the above undertaking given in the status report, no further order is required to
be passed in the writ petition and hence, he seeks to close the writ petition.
5. Recording the Status Report filed by the Government and also the submission made by the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner, this writ petition is closed. No costs.
