The Petition has been filed in the nature of mandamus seeking direction to the respondent to pass orders on the representation made by the petitioner dated 31.10.2019 to expunge the remarks made in the petitioner's passport vide official communication dated 24.10.2018.

2. Mr.S.Jimrajmilton, learned counsel for the petitioner, M/s.S.Swarnalatha learned Central Government Standing Counsel for the 1st respondent and Mr.M.Inbanathan learned Additional Government Pleader for the 2nd respondent are present.

3. The learned Central Government Standing Counsel has forwarded a communication issued by the Regional PassPort Officer which is extracted for better reference: ''2000003_CPC_MAS Dated:21.01.2020 Shri. Yasar Arafath Syed Ahamed S/o Syed Ahamed, No.6/123, Gandhi Road, West Tambaram, Chennai-600 045 Sub: Restoration of Passport facilities-Reg.

Sir, Please refer to your representation dated 31.10.2019.

As per police verification report, as the criminal case registered against you is only under investigation, this officer reviewed your explanation and restored passport facilities to you.

4. In view of the said communication dated 21.01.2020, stating that Passport facilities have been restored, nothing survives in the Writ Petition.

5.With the above observation, the Writ Petition stands closed. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is also closed.
