Respondent PRAYER: Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying for issuance of a writ of mandamus, directing the respondent to settle 6% interest for the belated settlement of terminal benefits to the petitioners herein, by considering the representations of the petitioners, dated 01.08.2025 and 11.09.2025.

ORDER

This Writ Petition is filed for issuance of a writ of mandamus, directing the respondent to settle 6% interest for the belated settlement of terminal benefits to the petitioners, by considering their representations, dated 01.08.2025 and 11.09.2025.

2. The case of the petitioners is that they joined the respondent Corporation on different dates and retired from service on 31.10.2023. Upon retirement, their retirement benefits were settled on 25.08.2025 but interest at 6% per annum was not paid for the belated settlement of terminal benefits. In this regard, they submitted a representation to the respondent on 01.08.2025, requesting to settle retirement benefits along with interest at 6% per annum for the belated payment. However, no action has been taken by the respondent. Hence, they have come before this Court by way of this Writ Petition.

3. Mr.S.Sivasubramani, learned Standing Counsel, appearing for the respondent, would submit that terminal benefits to the petitioners have been settled, but with some delay.

4. In view of the above, the respondent is directed to pay interest at 6% per annum for the belated period of payment of terminal benefits to the

petitioners within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of copy of this order. It is made clear that if the amount is not paid within the time frame fixed by this Court, it will fetch interest at the rate of 9% per annum from the date on which the amount became due and payable till the date of realisation..

5. Writ Petition is disposed of accordingly. No costs. 22.09.2025 NCC :
