Prayer: Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue Writ of Mandamus directing the 1st respondent herein to classify Town Survey No.2/1, Dhandapani Temple Street, Tirupattur Town as Grama Natham and issue Patta to the pettioner and consider the petitioner's representations dated 22.04.2023 and 24.11.2023 to issue Patta. ORDER
This Writ Petition is filed seeking to issue a Writ of Mandamus directing the 1st respondent herein to classify Town Survey No.2/1, Dhandapani Temple Street, Tirupattur Town as Grama Natham and issue Patta to the petitioner by considering the petitioner's representations dated 22.04.2023 and 24.11.2023.
2. The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that nearly 85 families including the petitioner's family who are land-less poor and hosueless down-troden, have been seeking Patta for the Natham land. The 1st respondent/District Collector has also sent a recommendation way back on 2/6
04.05.2023 to the 5th respondent/Tahsildar and to the concerned Revenue Divisional Officer. However, no steps have been taken. Hence, the present Writ Petition is filed.
3. Mr.Arun Kumar, learned Additional Government Pleader takes notice for the respondents.
4. Heard and perused the materials available on record.

Having regard to the submissions made by the learned counsel on either side, this Court directs the respondents to consider the petitioner's representations dated 22.04.2023 and 24.11.2023 and if the said 85 families mentioned in the recommendation of the 1st respondent dated 04.05.2023 are eligible beneficiaries and the land sought for by them is suitable for conversion, the same may be converted and issue Patta to them if the beneficiaries are otherwise eligible. In case the said land is not fit for change of classification and if the said land is a Lake, Odai or like water body, the 1st 3/6
respondent/District Collector is directed to identify any other suitable Government land within the proximate extent and take steps to grant Patta to them or otherwise, the 1st respondent/District Collector shall acquire a suitable land within the proximate extent of their village and allot the same to beneficiaries. The said exercise shall be completed within a period of three months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
6. With the above directions, this Writ Petition is disposed of at the admission stage itself. There shall be no order as to costs. List the matter first week of June "for reporting compliance". 23.02.2024 Index : Yes / No Speaking Order : Yes / No ksa-2 Note: Issue order copy on 26.02.2024 4/6
