PRAYER: W.P.No.35980 of 2025 is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying for issuance of a writ of mandamus, directing the respondents to pay interest amounts to the petitioner for the belatedly paid Service Gratuity, Provident Fund, Leave Salary and Commutation of Pension at the rate of 6% per annum for 25 months of delayed payment in the light of the judgment passed by this Hon'ble Court on 23.10.2024 in W.P.No.30766 of 2024.

For Respondent 3 in all W.Ps. : Mr.C.S.K.Sathish COMMON ORDER These Writ Petitions are filed for issuance of a writ of mandamus, directing the respondents to pay interest amounts to the petitioners for the belatedly paid Service Gratuity, Provident Fund, Leave Salary and Commutation of Pension at the rate of 6% per annum.
2. The case of the petitioners is that they joined the service of the respondent Corporation as Junior Tradesman, Driver and Conductor, as the
case may be, and retired from service on attaining the age of superannuation. However, terminal benefits have been paid to them with much delay and interest for the belated period has not been paid. In this regard, they submitted representations to the respondents, requesting to pay interest for the belated payment. However, no action has been taken by the respondent. Hence, they have come before this Court by way of these Writ Petitions.
3. Learned Standing Counsel, appearing for the respondents, would submit that terminal benefits have been settled to the petitioners, but with some delay.
4. In view of the above, the respondents are directed to pay interest at 6% per annum for the belated period of payment of terminal benefits to the petitioners within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of copy of this order. It is made clear that if the amount is not paid within the time frame fixed by this Court, it will fetch interest at the rate of 9% per annum from the date on which the amount became due and payable till the date of realisation.
5. Writ Petitions are disposed of accordingly. No costs. 22.09.2025
