The petitioner/A1 who was arrested and remanded to judicial custody on 04.11.2023 for the offences under Sections 294(b), 417, 420, 506(i) and 376 of IPC, in Crime No.32 of 2023 on the file of the respondent Police, seeks bail. 2.When the matter earlier came up for consideration, this Court on 15.12.2023 had directed the respondent to produce a copy of the statement recorded under Section 164(5) of Cr.P.C., from the victim girl. 3.The copy of the said statement has been produced and a reading of the same shows that the victim has been consistently let to believe that the petitioner would marry her and later, had been rejected and thereafter, she had gone over to the houses of all the relatives and they had all turned her away. 4.The learned counsel for the petitioner states that a reading of the said statement would imply that the offence involved would invite a punishment of 10 years and this means, according to the learned counsel, that final report should be filed within a period of 60 days.

5.Further investigation has to be done. The entire investigation is at a nascent stage and the statement of the victim girl alone has been recorded. 6.At this stage, this Court is not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner. 1/2 https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis
