This Criminal Original Petition is filed seeking direction to the 2nd respondent police not to harass the petitioner. 1/4

Based on the complaint given by one Venkatraman, the petitioner was called for enquiry in respect of theft complaint. The petitioner herein has attended the police enquiry and promised to come with other information regarding the complaint, but does not turn up, the present petition is filed alleging that the police is harassing her. 3.

The learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) appearing for the respondent police states that the complainant and the petitioner are related to each other and there was previous enmity between them. Therefore, false theft complaint has been given. whether the complaint is false or true, it is the Investigating Officer to investigate, Court cannot give a blanket prohibitory order against the police for investigating the complaint which indicates cognizable offence. Hence this Criminal Original Petition is dismissed. The police is directed to enquire the matter in accordance with law without violating human rights.
