This Writ Miscellaneous Petition has been filed seeking to grant a further period of six months time to complete the investigation and file a final report as per the direction of this court dated 25.04.2023 made in W.M.P.No. 3441 of 2023 in W.P.No. 11751 of 2021. Since the final report could not be submitted within a time stipulated by this court, the petitioners police 1 and 2 have sought for further extension of time. Accordingly, the matter is listed today.

2. Today, when the matter taken up for hearing, learned counsel for 1st respondent/defacto complainant would submit that inspite of direction given by this court, there was no progress in the investigation. Hence, he raised objections to extend the time.

3. The learned counsel for petitioners police would submit that one Sub-Registrar was arrested in the last week as he involved in this case. Hence, he seeks further time to file a status report. 1/3

4. Considering his submissions, this court is inclined to grant further period of three weeks to complete the investigation and to file a final report.
