The petitioner, who apprehends arrest at the hands of the respondent police for the offences punishable under Sections 120(b), 420,409,468,471 of Indian Penal Code r/w 109 of I.P.C and Section 13(2) r/w 13(1)(a) of Prevention of Corruption Act ( Amended) Act, 2018 which was altered into Section 120(B), 420, 409,468, 471 of I.P.C and 13(2) r/w 13 (1) (a) 12 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2018 in Crime No. 08 of 2021 and pertaining to the Special C.C.No.10 of 2023 on the file of the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court-cum-Special Court for Prevention of Corruption Act, Tirvarur, seeks anticipatory bail.

2. It is stated that after filing of final report, summons has been issued to the petitioner and copies also has been served under section 207 of Cr.P.C. The petitioner has not obtained bail or granted anticipatory bail during the course of investigation. The learned Trial Judge had adviced the petitioner to seek anticipatory bail. 1/3

The learned Government Advocate ( Criminal Side) stated that the petitioner is an accused in Spl.C.C.No.10 of 2023 pending before the learned Chief Judicial Magistrate and Special Judge for offence under Prevention of Corruption Act, Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, Thiruvarur. The petitioner was shown as an absconding accused in the charge sheet filed and therefore, he strongly opposed this petition.

4. In view of the above, I am not inclined to grant anticipatory bail to the petitioner herein. Accordingly, this Criminal Original petition stands dismissed. The petitioner may examine the Rules 22 and 24 of Criminal Rules of Practice.
