Mr. R.Sanjay, learned Central Government Standing Counsel takes notice for the 1st respondent and Mr.S.Balaji, learned Government Adbvocate (Crl.Side) takes notice for the 2nd respondent. By consent of both the parties, the writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the time of admission stage itself.
2. The Writ Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the 1st respondent to issue a passport to the petitioner, by considering his application dated 22.07.2025. .
3. It is the grievance of the petitioner that the petitioner is a body builder and he is qualified to participate in an international bodybuilding competition scheduled to be held in the month of November in Thailand. Hence, he has made an application before the first respondent for issuance of passport. While submitting the application, the service provider has failed to mention about the criminal case pending against him. There was no intention on his part to conceal any information from the authorities. Since there is a criminal case pending against the 2/4
petitioner, his application was not considered by the first respondent. Hence, the present writ petition has filed.
4. The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that this Court may issue a direction to the first respondent to consider the petitioner's application and pass appropriate orders within the stipulated time as fixed by this Court.
5. On the other hand, the learned Standing Counsel appearing for the first respondent submitted that the application of the petitioner will be considered and necessary orders will be passed in accordance with law.
6. Heard the learned counsel on either side and perused the materials available on record.
7.Considering the facts and circumstances of the case and having regard the submissions made by the learned counsel on either side, the first respondent is directed to consider the petitioner's application dated 3/4
M.DHANDAPANI,J uma 22.07.2025 and pass orders on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of six (6) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 8.With the above direction, the writ petition stands disposed of. No costs.
