ORDER

The petitioner seeks a direction to the respondents-police to provide police protection to continue the quarry business in a peaceful manner.

2. According to the petitioner, he is running quarry business after obtaining necessary license from the authorities, however, some third parties are interfering with the said business. Despite enquiry being conducted by the SubCollector and a direction has been given to provide police protection, the respondents- police have not provided the police protection.

3. Per contra, the learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side), on instructions, would submit that the villagers and neighbours are objecting the 2/5

petitioner's quarry business and the respondents-police have received the complaint and enquiry is pending.

4. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) appearing for the respondents 1 to 4 and perused the documents placed on record.

5. It is to be noted that the petitioner has been granted license by the Government authorities and it is valid till 28.07.2026. When the Government has granted license, merely for the sake of somebody, such license cannot be put on hold. It is the duty of the respondents-police to provide necessary police protection, whenever third party interferes in the petitioner's lawful quarry operation. Hence there shall be a direction to the respondents-police to provide police protection whenever such situation arises.
