ORDER

This Writ Petition has been filed seeking issuance of a Writ of Mandamus to direct the respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 23.05.2023, given under the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007.

2. Heard Mr.R.Jeyendran, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr.S.Nanmaran, learned Special Government Pleader for the respondent.

3. The petitioner who is a senior citizen has given a representation to the respondent by stating that he was not maintained by his son.

4. Since the petitioner has given a representation in terms of Section 5 of the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007 to the respondent to take appropriate action, it is obligatory on the part of the respondent to make an enquiry and pass appropriate orders.

With the above observations, this Writ Petition is disposed and the respondent is directed to make an enquiry on the representation given by the petitioner and pass appropriate orders within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
