The Criminal Original Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the learned Chief Judicial Magistrate, Chengalpattu, to dispose the trial in C.C.No.118 of 2023 within the stipulated time. 2.

The contention of the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner is that based on the complaint lodged by the petitioner/de facto complainant, a case in Crime No.345 of 2018 was registered by the respondent against the accused persons on 23.07.2018. After completion of investigation, a charge sheet was filed and taken cognizance in the year 2023 in C.C.No.118 of 2023 before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Chengalpattu. However, despite the lapse of time, there has been no progress in the trial. Hence, the present petition has been filed seeking a direction to expedite the trial.

Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side) appearing for the first respondent.

Considering the facts and circumstances of the case particularly that the case pertains to the year 2018 and despite the filing of the charge sheet in the year 2023, the trial is still pending, this Court directs the learned Chief Judicial Magistrate, Chengalpattu, to complete the trial in C.C.No.118 of 2023 as expeditiously as possible.
