Prayer : This Writ Miscellaneous Petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to grant extension of time to pay the cost of Rs.5,000/- to the High Court Legal Services Authority, Chennai, in terms of the order dated 23.06.2025 in W.P.No.11294 of 2014.

ORDER

Despite a specific direction of this Court on 26.03.2025 to pay cost of Rs.5,000/- to the High Court Local Service Authority, the petitioners/respondents have not paid the cost.

2. Instead, they have filed an application seeking extension of time to pay the cost. It is unfortunate that the State Authorities are pleading that they are not in a position to pay a paltry sum of Rs.5000/- and are seeking extension of time.

Nonetheless, as this Court has directed that the counter to be on record, and since Mrs.Meera Arumugam states that the counter is ready, I am inclined to allow the petition seeking extension of time.

3. Accordingly, Writ Miscellaneous Petition is allowed. Time is extended till 24.10.2025. Cost to be paid on or before 24.10.2025.

4. List the writ petition on 25.10.2025 for receiving counter. In case counter is not filed by 25.10.2025, the cost already imposed by this Court will be enhanced to Rs.10,000/-.
