Respondents Prayer : Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of Constitution of India praying for issuance of Writ of Mandamus, directing second and third respondents to consider the petitioner's written representations dated 17.07.2025 and 18.07.2025 addressed to them, consequentially issue patta in favour of the petitioner for an extent of 30 cents of Grame Natham land falling under survey No.293/7 in Vadapattinam Village, Chengalpattu District based on the Registered Settlement Deed No. 2416/2009 dated 20.08.2009 on the fie of the sub Registrar at Cheyyur in favour of the petitioner.

ORDER

This Writ Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the second and third respondents to issue a patta in favour of the petitioner in respect of the land comprised in Survey No.293/7, measuring an extent of 30 cents, situated at Vadapattinam Village, Chengalpattu District.

2. Heard the learned counsel appearing on either side and perused the materials available on record.

3. Admittedly, the land comprised in Survey No.293/7, measuring an extent of 30 cents, situated at Vadapattinam Village, Chengalpattu District, is classified as Grama Natham land and remains vacant. Though the petitioner had acquired the property through a settlement deed executed by his father vide registered Document No.2416 of 2009 dated 20.08.2009, the petitioner is not entitled to a patta for the Natham land merely because of such settlement deed. If the petitioner has constructed any house for residential purposes on the said land, he would be entitled to a patta only for the constructed portion.

4. In view of the above, the application submitted by the petitioner seeking patta for the vacant land, that too, measuring 30 cents, cannot be considered. Thus, the writ petition lacks merits and is liable to be dismissed. Accordingly, this Writ Petition stands dismissed.
