The petitioner, who was arrested and remanded to judicial custody on 22.08.2025, for the offence punishable under Sections 8(c), 23, 28 and 29 under Section 20(b)(ii)(B) of NDPS Act in R.R.No.26/2025, registered on the file of the respondent, seeks bail.

2. The case of the prosecution is that the petitioner accused, who was coming from Bangkok, Thailand to Chennai by Thai Flight No.TG 337 on 21.08.2025 had been brought 1.950 kgs of ganja and the same had been seized by the respondent police. Hence the case.

3. The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioners an innocent person and he has falsely implicated in this case. Hence, he prays to grant bail to the petitioner.

The learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) appearing for the respondent police reiterated the prosecution case and submitted that the investigation of this case is in initial stage and the petitioner/accused had brought the contraband from other country and the contraband was seized at International Terminal, Chennai. The petitioner had involved illicit transportation of 1.950 kgs of ganja from Bangkok to India for monetary benefits. It has been putforth that if he is enlarged on bail, he would escape from the clutches of law and flew away and he would commit similar offence and tamper the witnesses. Hence, he opposed for grant of bail to the petitioner.

5. Heard both sides and perused the materials available on record.

6. Considering the nascent stage of investigation, the release of the petitioner accused at this stage would hamper the investigation. Hence, this Court is not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner.
