ORDER

(1)M/s.V.M.Sreenidhi, learned counsel accepts notice on behalf of the respondents. With the consent of both the learned counsels, the writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself. (2)The writ petition is filed for a mandamus directing the respondents to implement the order of the Inspector of Labour dated 02.08.2005, in Claim Petition No.IOL.2305/1999, granting permanent status to the petitioners, by considering the petitioners' representation dated 29.08.2025. (3)The petitioners state that they were working under the respondents for several years and despite the same, they were not conferred permanency since their employment was termed as ''contractual employment''.

The petitioners approached the Authority under the Tamil Nadu Industrial Establishments [Conferment of Permanent Status to Workmen] Act, 1981, for permanency in terms of Section 3 of the said Act. The petitioners further state that the Inspector of Labour in IOL.No.2305/1999, filed by the petitioners herein, passed an order on 02.08.

Calendar months from the date of joining. The petitioners state that despite the order of the Inspector of Labour, the respondents did not confer permanent status on the petitioners and therefore, the petitioners submitted a representation to the respondents on 29.08.2025 seeking implementation of the order of the Inspector of Labour. Since no action was taken on the representation of the petitioners, the petitioners filed the above writ petition for the aforesaid relief.

(4)The learned counsel for the petitioners submitted that though a larger relief is claimed in the writ petition, it would suffice if, the respondents are directed to consider and pass orders on the petitioners' representation dated 29.08.2025 within the time frame to be fixed by this Court. (5)Heard both sides and perused the materials placed on record. (6)Considering the limited prayer of the learned counsel for the petitioners and without going into the merits of the case, the 1 st respondent is directed to consider the petitioners' representation dated 29.08.2025, on merits and in accordance with law and pass orders within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

(7)The writ petition is disposed of with the above direction. No costs.
