The present Writ Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondent herein to issue a death certificate pertaining to the petitioner's late father R.Shanmugam.
2. Heard both sides. With the consent of both sides, the present Writ Petition is taken up for hearing at the admission stage itself.
3. The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner's father was a coolie and when he went to Kadappa, Andhra Pradesh for his work, he died there intestate on 23.08.2022 and he did his last rites for his father in Chennai on 24.08.2022 (stated wrongly as 24.02.2022) which was revealed from the cremation certificate issued by the Greater Chennai Corporation vide Cremation Certificate No.25660. He further submitted that the petitioner approached the respondent several times for issuance of death certificate of his father, however, there was no response and hence, the present Writ Petition.
4. Considering the facts and circumstances of the case, this Court directs the respondent to consider the request of the petitioner in regard to issuance of death certificate of his late father R.Shanmugam and pass
appropriate orders in accordance with law, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this Order. There shall be no orders as to costs.
