Respondents Prayer : Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India seeking a writ of Mandamus directing the respondents 1 to 5 to reclassify the S.No.51, situated in Periyeri Village, Thalaivasal Taluk, Salem District as Government Poramboke - Kuttai, by cancelling the patta issued in the name of 6th to 10th respondent and consequently remove the encroachment made in the water body situated in S.No.51 of Periyeri Village, Thalaivasal Taluk, Salem District by considering the petitioner's representation dated 19.06.2024 within a time frame as may be fixed by this Hon'ble Court. ORDER

(Order of the Court was made by the Hon'ble Chief Justice) Through this writ petition, styled as public interest litigation, classification of land undertaken more than forty years earlier is sought to be challenged.

2. The issue of classification of land cannot be allowed to remain pending indefinitely. We are, therefore, not inclined to entertain this writ petition. Petition is dismissed. There shall be no order as to costs.
