This Criminal Original Petition has been filed to quash the FIR in Crime No.144 of 2025 pending on the file of the Inspector of Police at Chithode Police Station, Erode.

2. The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner is not directly involved in discharge of effluent into river and the petitioner had given the contract to the third parties and without their knowledge, it had happened. The petitioner is a resident of Chennai.

3. Per contra, the learned Government Advocate (Crl. Side) would submit that the case has been registered very recently and it is a case where 2/5

the Company viz., RK Steel Manufacturing Company Limited had discharged effluent into the Cauvery river, thereby causing environmental pollution. Based on the complaint given by the councilor, the case has been registered and investigation has been conducted and the enquiry is pending and as such, the investigation is still at a nascent stage.

Having heard the learned counsel on either side and perused the materials available on record and taking into consideration the submission made by the learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side) that the cases have been registered very recently and that the investigation is at a nascent stage, this Court is of the view that it would not be proper to interfere at this stage.

5. Accordingly, this Criminal Original Petition stand dismissed. 03.11.2025 vum Index : Yes / No 3/5
