ORDER

(Order of the Court was made by the Hon'ble Chief Justice) In respect of allegation of encroachment of government poromboke land by the fifth respondent, learned State Counsel, upon instructions, would submit that taking cognizance of the complaint, survey was conducted on 02.09.2025 by the surveyor and on encroachment having been found, proceedings have been initiated; wherein the Tahsildar has issued Form-I, under the Tamil Nadu Panchayats Act, to the Block Development Officer, for taking necessary action, vide communication dated 08.09.2025.

2. The action which has so far been done based on the complaint made by the petitioner shows that it is not a case of inaction. The authorities who have received communication from the Tahsildar are required under the law to take appropriate steps, including issuance of notice to the private respondent, giving an

opportunity of hearing and thereafter passing appropriate orders in accordance with law. The proceedings should be concluded by the Block Development Officer within a period of four months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

3. The petition stands disposed of. There will be no order as to costs.
