ORDER

By consent of both parties, this Writ Petition is taken up for final disposal at the stage of admission itself.

2.This writ petition has been filed seeking for issuance of a Mandamus, to direct the first respondent to consider and pass orders on the petitioner's appeal dated 26.07.2025 in regard to maintenance provided under the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007 within a stipulated time. 3.Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the respondents 1 & 2 and perused the materials available on record.

4.The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner is a senior citizen and he has filed an application under the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007 before the second respondent and it was dismissed on 10.06.2025, against which, the petitioner filed an appeal before the first respondent on 26.05.2025. He would further submit that as per Section 16(6) of the said Act, the Appellate Tribunal should make an endeavour to pronounce its order within one month of receiving the appeal. However, follow up action was not taken by the first respondent, resulting in filing this Writ Petition.

5.The learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the respondents 1 & 2 would submit that the appeal has been preferred on 26.05.2025 and it is pending on the file of the first respondent.

6.In view of the above, the first respondent is directed to dispose of the appeal dated 26.05.2025 filed by the petitioner as expeditiously as possible preferably within a period of six(6) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of

this order after hearing the third respondent. 7.With the above direction, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. No costs.

8.Since no adverse order has been passed against the third respondent, notice is dispensed with to the third respondent. 14-10-2025 dn Index:Yes/No
