O R D E R

The Criminal Original Petition has been filed seeking to quash the First Information Report filed against the petitioner in Crime No.197 of 2025 pending on the file of the first respondent Police . Heard both sides and perused the materials available on record.

The First Information Report in Crime No.197 of 2025 was registered on the file of the first respondent Police on 09.07.2025 for the offences under Section 6(4) of TN Scheduled Commodities (RDCS) Order, 1982 and Section 7(1)(a)(ii) of Essential Commodities Act, 1955, against the accused for allegedly transporting 11,150 kilograms of rice meant for the Public Distribution System. The entire quantity of rice and the vehicle used for transportation were seized.

On a perusal of the entire allegations in the First Information Report, this Court is not inclined to quash the FIR at this stage, as the matter requires a detailed investigation. It is left open to the petitioner to raise all his defences before the trial Court and the Court below shall consider the 2/4

same on its own merits and in accordance with law. 5.

Accordingly, the Criminal Original Petition stands dismissed. Consequently, the connected miscellaneous petition is closed. 10.10.2025 ham To 1.
